Special Response Team - SRT

In 2001 the Department formed the Special Response Team (SRT). The SRT is a scaled down version of a SWAT team. The Team was formed due to an increased demand in our area for the services a tactical entry team provides and there was no other local resource available. The SRT consists of officers who have been trained to tactically secure residences, buildings and vehicles during the execution of moderate to high risk arrest warrants and search and seizure warrants. Officers are also trained in the use of various specialized weapons and equipment that assists them in safely fulfilling the SRT’s primary mission of safely and effectively executing the warrants they are assigned to serve. Since the Team’s inception it has successfully completed over 50 missions and has been instrumental in furthering the Department’s mission of keeping Denton as safe and crime free as possible.
